The annual Geometric Art exhibition has begun. The painters have gathered, and they may use only a handful of geometric symbols and a strict limit of strokes to complete each piece together. If your fellow painters can guess what you have all drawn, the exhibition is a success.
Geometric Art is a drawing-driven co-op party game in which everyone takes turns to draw and to guess. The ultimate goal is to understand each other's artworks — but you may only finish your “artwork” with a limited number of strokes and geometric symbols.
At the start of each round you each receive a theme card and write your answer on the back of your paper, hoping the player to your right — the guesser — understands you well. Then you all work together to finish each other's artworks within two to three minutes. Here is where everything goes crazy: you may only draw one stroke of the shown symbols at a time before passing the paper on. Time is up! Each of you is responsible for one artwork, and you have three tries to name it. Meet the passing standard after 4 rounds and everyone wins.
Goal
Draw in turn using the geometric symbols that were revealed, within the stroke limit, so that the guesser can name the theme written on the back of the paper. Meet the team target within four rounds and everyone wins together.
Components
- 36 theme cards
- 5 count cards
- 9 geometric discs
- 1 tear-off drawing pad
- 5 extra-stroke cards and 1 display card
Round Overview
- Symbols — reveal a count card. Its number tells you how many geometric discs to reveal this round, and is also the stroke limit for each artwork.
- Themes — everyone draws a theme card, matches it to the symbols, and secretly writes the answer on the back of their paper.
- Timed drawing — over two minutes, pass the papers around and add one stroke each, using only the revealed geometric symbols.
- Guessing — the guesser named on each paper reveals the answer.
